Check your ATECO code

To be recognized officially as machine builders under the SayMachinery Directive 2006/42/EC, it is essential that your business is classified with the correct ATECO code.


The reference code is:

ATECO 28 – Manufacture of machinery and equipment nca.

If you build, assemble, or modify machinery intended for industrial use (such as lathes, milling machines, automated systems, etc.), in particular:


  • 28.24.00 – Manufacture of mechanical tools (e.g. lathes, milling machines, grinding machines)
  • 28.41.00 – Manufacture of machinery for metallurgy
  • 28.29.00 – Other machine tools
  • 28.99.00 – Other general purpose machinery nec


How to check your ATECO code?

  • On your company's Chamber of Commerce registration (available at the Chamber of Commerce)
  • At your accountant or tax advisor
  • Online through official portals (e.g. registroimprese.it)
